History of Guns History Of Guns have always been the kind of band that polarise opinion. Either they're a confused jumble of contradictory styles including electronica, punk, industrial, ambient, rock, dance, goth, disco and metal, or they are muti-genre pioneers of music's evolving form. Centrally comprising of Del Alien (vocals) and Max Rael (keyboards, guitars, programming) they sometimes work as a duo, sometimes with a revolving cast of supporting musicians/contributors. They self-released two albums FLASHES OF LIGHT (2004) and APOHPENIA (2006), before signing to Line Out Records in 2007. In response to criticism that every song on previous album APOPHENIA appeared to be in a different genre, the band focussed purely on the punk/rock side and scaled back all the electronics. The result was ACEDIA released in 2008 to mostly rave reviews (including a 9/10 score in Rock Sound Magazine). "it is Max Rael who controls the music (being writer, player and producer). His world of sonic construction and manipulation is, at times, astonishingly open – and yet moments of dense and confrontational music appear all through Acedia.
