Devolution - Trauma Pet - You Cannot Feel ThisMarch 2006 - http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_traumapet_ycft.htm Crisp, beautiful synthetic numbers abound on this debut - 'You Cannot Feel This' is everything Snake River Conspiracy should have been and more. While a little poppier than the aforementioned SRC - think more Host-era Paradise Lost mixed with Mesh, with Amy Lee on vocals, Trauma Pet sound significantly more European than you'd expect for a Hampshire trio. This is electronic music at it's most seductive - drawing you into the centre of it's dark soul with atmospheric swirling layers, and while it can sound a little thin at times it's never less than enthralling. Melancholy and yet somewhat uplifting, their arsenal in the war against the cynical music industry of today - obvious raw talent and a real ear for a tune. Greg Porter |
