Sounds from the town

13th August 2004 - The Maidenhead Advertiser

A COMPILATION CD of bands from in and around Maidenhead is being put together by two independent record labels.

Line Out Records and Where It’s at Is Where You Are (Wiaiwya) have come together to give up-andcoming and established music talent an outlet.

So far 10 bands, including Maidenhead indie rock band Kid Galahad, have agreed to contribute a song, but more talent, and sponsors, are still needed.

The record labels hope the CD will be in shops by Christmas.

Kid Galahad guitarist Dave Ody said: “It is a brilliant idea. There are so many musicians in Maidenhead that only a few people know about, this will get them out in the open.”

Former St Piran’s pupil John Jervis, of Wiaiwya, said: “We got the idea in a pub, where all the best ideas come.

“So far we have got all sorts of bands, from garage rock to electronic rock and ambient. The music scene in Maidenhead is excellent, just about everyone I meet is in a band or doing something.”

All contributing bands will receive 25 copies of the CD to give away or sell. Sponsors will also be given copies to give away or sell and will have their details and artwork included on the packaging.
