Jensen return from under the covers

26th November 2004 - The Maidenhead Advertiser

A MAIDENHEAD band which has been taking a break to write new material will be playing its first gig for six months tomorrow night (Saturday).

Jensen, who got together four years ago, includes Matt Bond on vocals and guitar, Danny Bond on drums, Neil Ackroyd on bass and vocals and Jonny Gray on guitar and keyboard.

The band has been hard at work on new songs and will be playing them at Stripes Bar, Maidenhead Utd Football Club in York Road.

Mr Ackroyd, 25, said: “Many people think of Jensen as the ‘Sixties cover band’ and although we enjoy playing the covers, we’re going to be concentrating on promoting our own music for the time being.”

The band has also been included on the new Maidenhead Compilation CD, a project which is being put together by Line Out Records and Where It’s At Is Where You Are (WIAIWYA) and will feature 19 tracks by local artists, including Kid Galahad, Wire Jesus and The Alfredo Contract.

The finishing touches are being put to the CD which is due to be released before Christmas, providing all the sponsorship comes together.

Jensen’s gig starts at 8pm and entry is free.
